Great Ways to Hide Your Cat’s Litterbox

Our feline friends certainly have many wonderful qualities. Cats are cute, cuddly, and lovable, and make purrfect napping buddies. Cleanliness is another one of Fluffy’s wonderful qualities. Your furball will groom herself regularly, and will discretely use her litterbox to see to her needs. While it’s great that cats don’t need potty walks, your kitty’s private bathroom probably isn’t doing a whole lot for your décor. We are here to help! In this article, a Cherry Hill, NJ vet offers tips for hiding litterboxes.

Folding Screen

A folding screen is a great way to hide a litterbox. Set it up kitty-corner, leaving a cat-sized space for your furball. We recommend using a covered litterbox, so the screen doesn’t get dirty.

Upgraded Tote

A large plastic storage bin can also make an excellent litterbox holder. Just cut a kitty door in one side. To make the tote more appealing, decorate it with paint, contact paper, or fabric, or add stencils or stickers. When it starts looking worn, just replace it.

End Table Camouflage

Get an end table with four legs. Position the litterbox underneath it, and then drape an attractive fabric over it. You may want to customize the piece by cutting and sewing it so that it falls correctly. Just remember to leave an opening for Fluffy.

Repurposed Furniture

Another option is to just get an old end table, or even a buffet, with doors. Cut a hole in the back or side for Fluffy to get in and out. You’ll be able to use the doors for access.

Store-Bought Pieces

Did you know that over a third of all households have kitties? It’s no wonder that companies have started making furniture designed specifically to hide litterboxes. Do a quick search online to get an idea of various options and prices. You may be surprised at how attractive some of these pieces can be!

Other Options

Of course, if you own your own home, you may have a few more options, such as putting a kitty door in the door that leads to the cellar or patio. Just keep your pet’s happiness in mind: don’t put Fluffy’s bathroom in an area that is cold or hard to reach.
